Russellville reaches an average high of 93 degrees in midsummer and drops to an average low of 27 degrees in January. Average rainfall is 49 inches annually. Snow averages 3 inches for each year.

The 10 public schools in the Russellville District are considered among the best in the state. Metropolitan Achievement Test (MAT) scores and the number of National Merit Semifinalists compare favorably with the top schools throughout the nation. Higher education is provided to the town by Arkansas Tech University. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the University of Central Arkansas are also available within an hour's drive.

St. Mary's Regional Medical Center serves the city's health care needs. Dardanelle Hospital provides an additional option only 7 miles away from town. Russellville CBOC is our local Veterans hospital.

Fans of the outdoors will find no end of fun surrounding Russellville. Nearby Lake Dardanelle is great for fishing, sailing, swimming and water skiing. The associated State Park has camping, restrooms and showers, picnic sites, pavilions, electrical outlets, hiking trails and miniature golf.

Other regional parks include Old Post Road Park, which provides campsites, picnic shelters, a boat launching ramp, a playground, ball fields, lighted tennis courts and the Arkansas River Visitor Center. There's also Mt. Nebo State Park, the site for the annual Mt. Nebo Chicken Fry that is a "must attend affair for Arkansas politicians." The park also has cabins, campsites, hiking trails with scenic overlooks, a swimming pool, pavilions, tennis courts, a visitor center and even a hang gliding area.

Holla Bend Wildlife Refuge, just 13 miles south of Russellville, provides 7,055 acres of natural habitat for 158 species of birds and waterfowl, along with a few mammals such as bobcats and coyotes.
